Is your New Year’s Resolution still a part of your routine right now? If so, good job at being a part of the 64% who were able to stick to it! Here’s to making this lifestyle change a permanent part of your life! After all, they say it takes 21 days of continual practice to make a habit.
Now, for the rest of us 36%, let me begin by saying that there is no shame in not being able to keep our resolutions. Lifestyle changes are hard, and sometimes life decides that it’s going to throw you a curve ball or just seem to derail completely. Trust me; I know. I was only able to pursue my resolution of getting fit as far as purchasing a new bike before my life was thrown in to chaos, and I had to set it aside.
Maybe yours wasn’t as severe as mine was. Maybe you found that once the holidays died down, you didn’t have time that would allow you to work on your goal. Maybe you injured yourself and had to stop. Maybe you couldn’t afford what your goal needed to start up. Maybe you just got tired of doing it. Whatever the reason, there is no shame in it! Just start your New Year’s Resolution over again.
But New Year’s is over – it’s already February!
Who made the rule that New Years Day is the only time to make a new year’s resolution? Have they not heard of the other 364 days of the year? Sure, it’s convenient to begin a new thing on a date you will remember, but, seriously, there is no reason we can’t start a new year’s resolution Feb. 1 or Valentine’s Day or the most random day you can think of. You seriously don’t have time to? That’s fine, too! Who says you can’t start when you do finally have time?
But I already tried my resolution and failed!
Who said that if we fail at a resolution, we can’t try again? No one. There’s no such thing as a missed window of opportunity when it comes to New Year’s Resolutions. If we wanted, we could restart our resolutions 100 times this year. Isn’t the whole point of making a New Year’s Resolution to better ourselves and our lifestyles? Just as long as we keep trying – that’s what these resolutions are all about.
We can still do this!
Join me as I re-begin my New Year’s Resolution. Let’s see how far we can go; we can do it together!
